Exchanges Agree To Delist Options; More To Come

In an effort to ease options message traffic, the five options exchanges agreed earlier this year to delist large amounts of options series. The exchanges have already eliminated approximately 5,000 to 9,000 of the more than 100,000 option series that exist in the U.S. Meanwhile, the exchanges, member firms and vendors are working on a plan that could have a larger impact on message traffic.
