GFI Data Revamp Drives 'Off-Desktop' Sales

The initiative is being led by global head of data sales Philip Winstone, who joined the broker in February from Reuters, where he was content acquisition manager for the EMEA region. Winstone says that while the bulk of GFI's data revenues have traditionally come from licensing trade data generated by its broking desks and trading platforms to market data vendors, he sees significant growth opportunities outside of this core market, by increasing the broker's direct sales to end-user firms
