eSpeed-BGC Deal Drives New Data

The merger, which is expected to close in Q4 this year or early Q1 2008, will allow the new entity, to be called BGC, to combine the data generated by its voice broking and electronic brokerage activities, bringing increased transparency to investors in BGC's less liquid asset classes by providing them alongside the data from liquid markets provided via Cantor's distribution channels, officials and observers say.

Brad Bailey, senior analyst at Boston-based research firm Aite Group, says that
