CME in Retreat on Historical Data Fees

The exchange planned to introduce the fees from Jan. 1, charging firms who collect real-time or delayed data to create a historical record that they provide to a client or third party, even if they do not charge clients for that data.

According to a notice from CME dated Oct. 1, "the licensing and fees would even apply to firms that provide small amounts of data to their clients on an ad hoc basis."

In that notice, CME set out annual fees of $10,000 each for historical end-of-day Chicago
