While I don't expect to be trading that in for a profit-at least, I hope not-investors and speculators have been seeking out alternative investments and a "flight to quality" that will provide them with if not greater returns then at least more consistency and lower risk of loss.

As becomes apparent from this week's story about index providers, most agree that investors will seek out new sources of alpha, even if there is disagreement over exactly what asset classes, geographies and strategies
