Increasing volumes associated with big data are having a significant impact on how firms approach data quality, according to a BNY Mellon executive who took part in the July 12 webcast about the impact of big data on data management.

Pittsburgh-based Dennis Smith, managing director, advanced engineering group, at BNY Mellon, said firms are having to “trade off consistency and integrity for speed and flexibility” because of the increased volumes of data they are managing as a result of big data.
