Back in 2008, Inside Reference Data reported on the "MDM invasion"-the incursion of master data management vendors, with experience in industries such as pharmaceuticals and retail banking, into the capital markets space.

The article addressed questions current in the industry at that time. Was MDM a threat to established enterprise data management (EDM) vendors? Who were these new upstart players? What did MDM and EDM mean, anyway?
