VASAN TO CUT COSTS FOR CSFB

Philip Vasan, head of CSFBNext, the e-commerce arm of Credit Suisse First Boston, and the bank's former global head of foreign exchange, was named head of the bank's new cost-cutting initiative last week. The initiative will reduce headcount by 2,000--7 percent of the investment banking group's staff--and is aimed at slashing operating costs at the bank by $1 billion per annum.
