Howard Ertel has left his post as chief information officer (CIO) for the New York branch of Societe Generale (SocGen), say industry sources. Ertel could not be reached for comment and SocGen officials did not return calls by press time.

City Consultants in London has hired five senior staff members to expand its management consultancy division. Glen Townsend has been appointed assistant director; he was formerly managing director at Standard Bank Stockbrokers on the Isle of Man. Ian Hart joins
