In the first week of August, influential reference data tweeters seemed to have one topic on their mind - the National Institute of Finance (NIF). The American Statistical Association (ASA) voted to endorse the proposal to create the NIF in their board meeting on August 1, and later in the week, industry association EDM Council encouraged members to sign a petition to support the initiative.
So why is the NIF relevant to the reference data community? The institute is proposed to be established as
