Watchers Wary of SAP, Sybase Deal

DUBLIN, CALIF.—The announcement that German software giant SAP intended to acquire database and complex event processing (CEP) platform provider Sybase in a $5.8 billion cash deal was met with muted response by industry watchers, who are waiting to understand the knock-on effect for Sybase’s financial services clients.


According to SAP and Sybase spokespeople, the deal will allow both vendors to leverage SAP’s in-memory technology offering and Sybase’s CEP and analytic processing capabilities
