Benchmark rate data provider Rate Validation Services has hired Andrew Simpson, former head of IT strategy at UK regulator the Financial Services Authority, as chief operating officer, to lead the vendor's development of bespoke benchmarks that help banks manage their balance sheets, allocate capital and monitor exposures.

Simpson was most recently head of business development at DTCC-owned European clearinghouse EuroCCP, prior to which he was COO at the SWX (now SIX) Swiss Exchange.

At RVS, he reports to chief executive Kevin Milne, a former CEO of Xtrakter, who joined the vendor last September from the London Stock Exchange, where he was director of post-trade services.
