Insider Dealing Doubled in a Year as Dark Web Access Got Easier

A new report claims that the main threat to financial institutions is coming from its people.

The recruitment of insiders in the dark web has doubled within a year, from 2015 to 2016, according to a new report, entitled “Monetizing the Insider: The Growing Symbiosis of Insiders and the Dark Web," published last Tuesday by risk management firm RedOwl and dark web specialist IntSights.

According to the findings, sophisticated threat actors use the dark web to find insiders, who can help place malware behind an organization's perimeter security.
