BNY Mellon Taps Bridget Engle as CIO
Engle will take over the role from Suresh Kumar.

Engle, who will also act as a senior executive vice president, will report directly to BNY Mellon CEO Gerald Hassell. She will also join the bank’s executive committee.
Engle has over 30 years of experience and has held positions at Lehman Brothers, Barclays Capital, the Depository Trust & Clearing Corp. (DTCC), and Bank of America. Prior to moving to BNY Mellon, Engle was CIO at Bank of America’s global banking and markets business, where she had been since 2010. She was also CTO for the firm’s consumer bank before becoming CIO.
Hassell said Engle’s experience is an important key to supporting the bank’s efforts to become an industry technology leader.
“Technology innovation is at the heart of what we do, and Bridget’s leadership, proven industry expertise and her focus on aligning technology solutions to create value for clients will support our ambition to be the investment industry technology leader,” Hassell said.
Her responsibilities include heading BNY’s client technology solutions group, which provides technology platforms and applications like its Nexen digital investment platform. Other duties involve investing in and integrating industry-leading applications, accelerating digital development, and attracting talent.
She replaces Suresh Kumar, who was promoted to CIO in 2012. He was the CIO at Pershing Square at the time it was acquired by BNY In 2010 and was featured in a Waters profile in 2013.
