MarketAxess Appoints Raj Paranandi As Chief Operating Officer EMEA and APAC

MarketAxess has appointed Raj Paranandi as chief operating officer, EMEA, and APAC.

Based in London, Paranandi joins MarketAxess from UBS, where he was most recently global co-head of digital transformation for UBS Global Markets and global head of change for UBS Investment Bank. Prior to this, he spent four years as global chief operating officer for FX, rates, and credit at UBS Investment Bank focused on developing its fixed income business through technology re-engineering and business process simplification. Previous roles include technology and operational leadership roles at Barclays, Credit Suisse, and Accenture. He has also served as a board member of the Global Financial Markets Association.

He will report to Christophe Roupie and work closely with Chris Concannon, president, and chief operating officer at MarketAxess. His appointment at MarketAxess is effective March 1. 

Former Reuters America CEO Joins SimCorp

Phil Lynch, former CEO of Reuters America and Asset Control, joined SimCorp in New York at the start of this year as senior strategy principal, part of the vendor’s global Go-To-Market team, reporting to VP and head of Go-To-Market strategy, Jon Irgens.

Lynch’s role will involve collaborating with its sales, pre-sales, professional services, and product management and marketing teams to support the growth of the vendor’s Coric digital client communications portal for buy-side firms.

Lynch was most recently global head of markets, products and strategy for SIX Group’s financial information business, prior to which he was head of global account management for asset management at SunGard. Before that, he spent almost six years as CEO of data management platform vendor Asset Control (now called Alveo), was a venture partner at then-owner Fidelity Ventures, and spent 17 years at Reuters, starting as an account manager in 1989, and becoming CEO of Reuters America in 2001.

Dominic Dowd to Build Americas Business for Shoreline

Shoreline, an Australian management consulting firm focusing on the buy side, has hired data industry veteran Dominic Dowd as director of North America, responsible for establishing and growing a team of specialists and expanding its client base in the US and Canada.

Dowd previously ran his own data strategy advisory firm, Palisade Advisors. Prior to that, he was director of enterprise data services at the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board. He also spent 15 years at Canadian exchange TMX Group, including as director of TMX Market Insights and senior product manager, after five years at Reuters as a team leader, managing teams responsible for reference data, pricing, fundamental and foreign exchange data. Dowd is also an advisor on corporate and product strategy at alternative data advisory firm AltHub.

Based in Toronto, Dowd reports to Shoreline founder and managing director, John DiBiase.

Sova Capital Taps Fraser Smith As CFO

Sova Capital, an independent brokerage with a focus on emerging markets, announces that Fraser Smith has joined the firm as chief financial officer. Smith brings significant experience as a global financial director with expertise in asset management, global banking & markets, UHNW wealth management, and securities services.

He spent the last 12 years at HSBC, and prior to that was a vice president at Merrill Lynch and previously worked at Arthur Andersen as a corporate fraud investigator.

He qualified as a chartered accountant with Ernst & Young in London.

Nutanix Appoints Rob Tribe To Senior Role

Nutanix, a provider of cloud computing, has announced the appointment of Rob Tribe as vice president, systems engineering, for the Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) region.

Promoted from his previous position as senior director, systems engineering, in his new position Tribe will play a strategic role in supporting Nutanix’s expansion in EMEA, whilst assuming overall responsibility for the company’s growing team of systems engineers in the region.

With over 25 years’ experience in enterprise technology, Tribe was one of the first two EMEA Nutanix employees, joining in 2012. Prior to his role at Nutanix, he was one of the earliest VMware employees in EMEA. Prior to that, he held various roles at EMC, IBM, and Sequent Computer Systems. 

Former Nasdaq CIO Anna Ewing Joins RIMES’ board

RIMES has announced the appointment of former Nasdaq CIO, Anna Ewing, to its board of directors as a non-executive director.

As the CIO of Nasdaq, Anna led all aspects of the company’s systems and infrastructure, guided exchange technologies.

During her career, she has established multiple industry-leading business units at Nasdaq, CIBC, and Merrill Lynch. As well as RIMES, Anna is currently a board member of Financeware LLC and Orchid Insurance. She was previously a non-executive director with NEX Group plc. 

As well as her work in technology, Anna supports women entrepreneurs as a mentor and angel investor with Astia Angels; serves on the New York Hall of Science, Board of Trustees to support STEM education for K-12 students; and is a Board member of the NASDAQ Entrepreneurial Center in San Francisco, to educate and support founders and entrepreneurs.  

Capco Appoints Dee McDougal as US Head of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion 

Capco has appointed Dee McDougal as its new US head of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I).

She joins Capco from Pacific Western Bank (PWB), where she served as senior vice president of D&I. In that role, she led PWB’s corporate diversity and inclusion strategy and developed education and engagement programs for internal and external stakeholders.

McDougal serves on various external professional committees and advisory groups, including the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisory Group and Professional Development Council of the American Bankers Association, the Executive Committee for the North Carolina Black Entrepreneurship Council. 

She also serves on the board of directors for Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Durham and Orange Counties, and Empower Dance Foundation. 

LiquidShare appoints Jean-Marc Eyssautier as new Chief Executive Officer

Blockchain fintech LiquidShare has announced the appointment of Jean-Marc Eyssautier as chief executive officer.

Eyssautier brings 25 years of experience in the asset servicing industry. He started his career at Banque de France then joined Sicovam SA (now Euroclear France). In 2001, he joined CDC IXIS as head of operations. When IXIS IS merged with CAIS in 2006, he was appointed managing director of CACEIS Bank Paris. In 2008, he became chief risk and compliance officer for the Group CACEIS and a member of the executive committee. Returning from a sabbatical year in 2017, he worked as senior advisor for the general management and global head of public affairs of CACEIS Group.
