So it is surprising that when looking to invest or set up shop in foreign markets, many buy-side firms fail to undertake similar levels of due diligence. Many firms attempt to set up operations in new markets without first having a proper understanding of local regulations and industry practices - a small sales and marketing team is dispatched first, is gets clients on board, and then the operations and technology teams are left scrambling to deliver what has been promised to these clients
