Charles Schwab Switches Planners To Net, Proprietary Service Will Be Phased Out

FRONT PAGE

Charles Schwab & Co. is in the midst of a major overhaul to its on line service, which will ultimately migrate all of its financial planning clients from the Windows-based, proprietary dial-up service to the Internet. Begun in October, the entire process could take two years before all of the San Francisco firm's 5,000 financial planning clients are switched over.

The initial phase consists of a secure e-mail feature along with updates on Schwab's products services and regulatory and tax news
