'Project Boat' Backers Pick a Vendor

LONDON—A technology vendor is "way out in front" in the race to win the contract to build the over-the-counter (OTC) trade data reporting platform that will be the heart of "Project Boat," according to sources familiar with the situation.

The unidentified IT provider, whose system is "in use globally," was chosen for its scalability and low cost, sources say.

Project Boat was officially announced in September, with nine of London's largest investment banks—ABN Amro, Citigroup, Credit Suisse
