IPC Sold to Silver Lake Partners

NEW YORK—Private equity firm Silver Lake Partners last week announced that it will acquire turret and networking services provider IPC Information Systems from GS Capital Partners for $800 million.

Industry observers say that, initially, it's unclear why Silver Lake bought IPC, but that IPC's mission is likely to remain the same.
