David Flaschen, the former president and chief executive officer of Thomson Financial, has resurfaced at Buyerzone.com, a Cambridge, Mass.-based online shopping site for small to mid-sized businesses. He has joined as member of the board. His appointment comes after much speculation that followed his surprise departure from Thomson Financial last September (IMD, Sept. 27, 1999). Flaschen joined the company in February 1997, overseeing its effort to integrate related divisions. Prior to this, he was head of the direct mail marketing company Donnelly Marketing and North American head of consumer market information at AC Nielsen. n Chip Steinmetz isn't the only person leaving Bridge (see related story, this issue). Other departures include Tim Dawes, a strategic accounts manager, who is joining Mercator, a provider of e-business integration services. Dawes has been appointed manager of new business, reporting to Chris Grant. At Bridge, Dawes reported to James Watson. Also moving is Emil Lawrence, who is going to Savvis sales, and Kevin Buck, who is joining Ixnet. At Bridge, Buck was account director, reporting to James Watson. His position has been taken over temporarily by Allison Faust, who says that no one has been marked to take the position as yet. Meanwhile, Eugen Tjang joins Bridge, heading the company's Japanese accounts. Previously Tjang was at Quick Corp.
Following the completion of the Data Broadcasting Corp.'s merger with Financial Times Asset Management/Interactive Data Corp. last week, Stephen Hill has been appointed chairman of the board. Hill succeeds Alan Hirschfield and Allan Tessler, who will continue on the board as directors.
Trading Technologies, an electronic trading software development and service company, has appointed Eleonore Treffert as managing director of sales in Frankfurt, reporting to Randy Mulford, executive vice president of sales. Treffert comes from EBS, where she was director of sales. Steve Schoenhaus, previously sales executive with Newsedge Corp. in New York, has joined as sales manager. Joining him is Bill Trinkle, who has also been appointed sales manager in New York. Trinkle was a senior sales executive with Aspen Research previously. Both Schoenhaus and Trinkle will report to Jim Marvin, the newly appointed vice president of sales and marketing.
Fame Information Services has appointed Paul Mattison as its chief financial and administrative officer. Mattison was previously chief financial officer of RIA Group, a division of The Thomson Corp. Mattison was also chief financial officer of Thomson Financial Services' Faulkner and Gray unit. Mattison will report to Gerry Mintz, Fame's president and chief executive officer.
Richard Wallach has been promoted to vice president of the public sector and Japan for Fame Information Services. He continues to report to Dale Richards, executive vice president of Fame's financial markets division.
