Garban has secured a new managing director for its New York operation in Jeffrey Maron. Maron, previously part of Reuters marketing organization who had recently taken on the expanded role of director of strategic projects for Reuters America as part of Reuters' recent reorganization. Maron will report into Gerard Buckley, who was named chief executive officer of Garban Information Systems last September. Maron is succeeding Michael Mayhew, who has been with the company for several years. Mayhew will be starting his own company, although there are no specific details yet.

Ian Vose has been charged with leading Reuters' asset management group. As such, he will be part of the equities management team within the Reuters Information division, reporting to Lloyd Beat, head of the equities group. Vose has been a fund manager for 15 years. He was a director of Morgan Grenfell Investment Management specializing in Japanese equities for seven years. Before that Vose spent eight years with GFM as chief investment officer and acting chief executive.

Aron Karp has finished his consultancy gig at The Marketnet Group. Karp joined as a consultant for Marketnet's euro project last year after leaving networking company Icon. Karp is a former managing director at liberty brokerage and sales and marketing chief at govpx.

Sebastian Mowbray and his team of technology headhunters have abruptly left Morgan Howard International to move to Innovation International in London to help Innovation expand their global banking and finance technology practice.

Morningstar has hired Sue Stevens as its new financial planning specialist, effective May 1. Stevens, who will report to Morningstar's research director John Rekenthaler, joins from the Vanguard Group where she was a senior manager. She has also previously worked with Arthur Andersen.

Sean Hallahan, who has been with Inventure for about a year as executive vice president, marketing and strategic alliances, is now at EDS in New York as managing director of global financial markets. Here he will be global relationship manager for the Citigroup account. Hallahan has also previously been director of North American business development at Tibco, where he worked for eight years until his departure in April 1997.
