Sun Microsystems Debuts Utility Computing

NEW YORK—As part of an outreach to Wall Street last week, Sun Microsystems launched its pay-for-use N1 Grid program, which allows organizations to purchase CPU hours on a hosted Solaris grid that's supported by AMD Opteron- and Sparc-based systems.
The new offering initially targets non-transaction workloads, such as simulations, modeling and rendering.
