After Many Sips, Merrill Lynch Gulps $6m Worth Of Openstep

Merrill Lynch & Co. has purchased $6 million worth of object-oriented software from Next Computer Inc. for deployment enterprise-wide and worldwide. The firm will also pay Next an additional $2 million for consulting and training services. The announcement of Merrill's global deal comes about a year after its decision to license Next's Openstep software in support of its global sales and trading operations (TST, Nov. 14, 1994) -- that deal stipulated that Merrill would run Openstep on top of Sun
