Internet Portal Provides Trading of U.S. Municipal Securities

NEW YORK--A new Internet portal for price data and trading of municipal securities has been created by Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter and Salomon Smith Barney together with Chapdelaine Electronic Brokerage. Called TheMuniCenter, its creators hope the website will become the Internet’s main focus for municipal securities.

Through TheMuniCenter, broker/dealers will be able to buy and sell municipal securities with the three large Wall Street firms that dominate the municipals market
