BUY-SIDE TECHNOLOGY AWARDS: Best buy-side client reporting platform: Vermilion Software
Of all the business processes that have risen to prominence in the wake of the credit crunch and ensuing global recession, client reporting is arguably the most critical, as investors look to their asset managers for greater transparency into their services in ever-shrinking time frames. It is no secret that during times of healthy returns, investors tend not to be that interested in the sources of those returns, as long as they as keep coming. In times of poor returns, however, investors are only too keen to pour over detailed “post mortems,” and it is here where client-reporting applications earn their keep—not necessarily guaranteeing returns, but instead providing efficient and transparent explanations into the how and why of underperformance.
Vermilion Software was a first-time winner in this category at last year’s awards and it’s good to see the London-based client-reporting specialist back in the winner’s circle again this year. Clearly, the last 12 months have been good for Vermilion—it has grown its client base by an impressive 50 percent.
Vermilion’s success in the buy-side client reporting market has been forged on the back of its flagship offering, the Vermilion Reporting Suite (VRS), a client-communication platform designed for high-quality, personalized and multilingual client reports. VRS comprises four integrated modules—the Data Gateway Service, DGS Commentary Services, a rendering service, and a workflow service—enabling buy-side firms of all sizes and levels of complexity to streamline and enhance the all-round quality of their entire client reporting process.
VRS can be installed at a client’s datacenter or deployed via Vermilion’s application service provider (ASP), and is also available as a software-as-a-service (SaaS) offering—a more appealing option for niche and mid-sized organizations. —VBA

The Vermilion Reporting Suite is a solid, market-leading product and one that we see winning significant new business, especially relative to the other entries in this category.
