BIS Names New Americas Council Chair

The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) has appointed José Dario Uribe, governor of the Bank of the Republic in Colombia, to a two-year term as chair of the BIS Consultative Council for the Americas (CCA), beginning January 9.

The CCA was founded in 2008 to foster communication between central banks in the Americas and with the BIS. Uribe succeeds Agustín Carstens, governor of the Bank of Mexico, who served the prior two-year term.
