Buy-Side Technology Awards 2014: Best Data Provider to the Buy Side—Rimes Technologies
It’s tough to single out one specific reason that has set Rimes apart from the rest of the pack for the better part of a decade. One reason is certainly the fact that the Rimes Managed Data Service (Rimes MDS) has over 150 different data partners worldwide. The plethora of sources makes for improved time-to-market, shortened implementation times for new datafeeds, and a reduced risk of project over-runs. Also, Rimes is willing to constantly evolve and adapt to the market. Despite its success, Rimes hasn’t rested on its laurels, as it continues to look for ways it can improve its Rimes MDS. In addition to the regular feedback it receives from its clients, this year, Rimes met with over 400 key decision-makers from the buy side at 35 different Rimes forums and roundtables held around the world, to dissect the latest data management trends.
Clearly, the vendor has listened to its clients, releasing two new services this year: the Rimes Reference Data Service (Rimes RDS), which provides clients with cost-effective sourcing, remediation, transformation, storage and distribution of reference data; and the Rimes Data Governance Service (Rimes DGS), which allows clients the ability to control data usage within their firms, including procurement, information management, and compliance management functions.
And let’s not forget the well-established Rimes Benchmark Data Service (Rimes BDS), designed for index and benchmark data’s workflow for the middle and back offices.
Then there is the specifically tailored service customers receive. Data is provided to clients in system-ready, individually customized feeds distributed directly to specified key destination systems within the business. Rimes also has support staff in 11 offices across seven different time zones who can deal with any issues customers have.
“By delivering data feeds directly to business systems, we can ensure that key business processes have access to their specific views of their required data,” says Alessandro Ferrari, Rimes’ senior vice president of global marketing. “‘Quality data’ takes precedence over an often meaningless centrally imposed view of ‘data quality.’”
“Dominant” is probably the best adjective to describe Rimes Technologies’ relationship with the best data provider category at the Buy-Side Technology Awards.
