Waters Rankings 2020: Best Buy-Side OMS Provider—SS&C Eze

For the ninth time in 10 years, the Eze OMS has been named the best buy-side order management system (OMS) in the Waters Rankings—the only blip coming in 2018 when Charles River Development won. Since coming under the SS&C umbrella at the end of 2018, it’s two in a row for SS&C Eze.
As disruptive as the Covid-19 pandemic has been for organizations, it has also highlighted that the cloud is not the future—it’s very much the present and future. Michael Hutner, senior vice president and general manager of SS&C Eze, says that currently, “most clients” deploy the Eze Investment Suite in the cloud, and the firm is seeing “rapid adoption” of its all-in-one native cloud platform, Eze Eclipse. As the company has pushed into the cloud, it has also worked diligently to beef up its cybersecurity defenses.
“The recent climate has highlighted the need for true access-from-anywhere solutions. If cybersecurity wasn’t front and center before, it certainly is now with most workforces operating entirely remotely. We take it seriously, but our clients aren’t going to take our word for it—they expect real results. It’s not just about trust, but also preparation,” he says. “That’s why we adhere to the most stringent cybersecurity requirements and maintain ISO. We are ISO 27001 certified, encompassing ISO 27017 and 27018 for cloud security and cloud privacy.”
In addition to cybersecurity, SS&C Eze has worked on delivering seamless cross-functional workflows across Eze Investment Suite, which includes enhancing its integrated order and execution management system (OEMS).
“We recently released new OEMS functionality that expands on our front-office integration, providing true, real-time blotter mirroring between Eze OMS and Eze EMS,” Hutner says. “Now, regardless of what application you trade out of, you have an accurate and up-to-date view of your trading activity. It’s a key feature that separates us from other OEMS offerings. We’ve gone beyond simple FIX integrations and are providing traders with the advanced trading tools they need to stay ahead, all while satisfying the holistic needs of the firm in a single front-office experience.”
