Following the Piper

US Bancorp Piper Jaffray (piperjaffray.com) has two new trading floors in its new Minneapolis office. About 400 traders and salespeople in equities and fixed income will be in place by the beginning of June. Piper’s got space for another 200 equities positions on a third floor.

The bank has added 25 Brass positions to those already in place. It also uses Sungard’s Universal Market Access, a retooled version of the Nasdaq Level 2 workstation. It connects to Sungard’s back-end
