Knight-Ridder Financial Up For Sale: Welsh Carson, Others Look Interested

Since Knight-Ridder Inc. retained Goldman Sachs & Co. two weeks ago to handle the sale of Knight-Ridder Financial, the names of companies interested in the vendor are surfacing. The four companies, all U.S.-based, that appear most eager are Automatic Data Processing, Dow Jones Telerate, Thomson Financial Services Inc. and Welsh Carson Anderson & Stowe. While sources say Welsh Carson has placed a low-ball bid of $120 million, observers also point to the company as the strongest fit for Knight
