ASX Appoints Funke Kupper CEO

ASX's new CEO faces a period of regulatory change in the market.

Elmer Funke Kupper has been appointed managing director and CEO of the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX).

Funke Kupper is expected to start his role on Oct. 6, taking over from Robert Elstone. His appointment comes ahead of the Oct. 31 go-live date of Chi-X Australia, which represents the first time that ASX's dominance as an exchange operator has been challenged.

Funke Kupper joins from Tabcorp Holdings Ltd., where he was managing director and CEO. As a part of his employment agreement
