Users: Virtualize for Server Capacity

NEW YORK-Many companies using virtualization technology are doing so to increase server capacity, utilization or efficiency rather than a means to switch to a utility computing strategy, according to a report from market research firm Chadwick Martin Bailey.

The firm surveyed about 250 IT decision makers at companies with more than 500 employees, including financial services operations. Approximately 84 percent of respondents say they have turned to virtualization to increase capacity, while only
