Morgan Stanley Saves $150M Via Linux-Intel

FRONT PAGE: OPENSOURCE TRADING SYSTEMS

NEW YORK--By the end of this year, Morgan Stanley will have achieved $150 million in IT infrastructure savings because of its aggressive embrace of Linux-Intel computing, says a source familiar with the situation.

A great deal of those savings have been derived from Linux-Intel deployments for its trading rooms, says the source. The rest of the savings will come from the deployment of Linux-Intel platforms for the corporate side of the firm such as human resources, law, finance, credit and risk.
