12,000 Trading Positions Lost by 2011

Firms in Western Europe and North America are expected to bear the brunt of redundancies, with a forecasted 20,000 fewer trading positions by 2011, says Stephen Kimsey, principal with Kimsey Consulting and author of the report. "Traders anyplace other than Western Europe or North America are relatively safe," he adds.

The number of eliminated positions would have be higher if it weren't for the growth in the financial, energy and commodities markets in the developing regions of Eastern Europe
