HKEx Proposes Second Board for GEM

The consultation paper follows a discussion paper released in January 2006, which proposed three possible structures for GEM: as a second board, added to the main board; or a new alternative market similar to the London Stock Exchange's Alternative Investment Market (AIM). After consulting with Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Commission, the exchange considered that it was too early to adopt an AIM model for the Hong Kong market.
