Mercator Faces Takeover Challenge from SSH

NEW YORK--Mercator Software entered its third week of a battle for control of the company against an unsolicited $75 million cash bid from Strategic Software Holdings (SSH).

Mercator, based in Wilton, Conn., rebuffed SSH’s offer as poorly defined and underfinanced; SSH owns five percent of the company’s shares.

SSH responded that Mercator refused to meet with SSH’s proposed financiers (TTW, April 7).
