Solaris 10 to Offer 'Container' Partitions

SANTA CLARA, Calif.—Sun Microsystems will officially unveil Solaris 10 this week with an eye toward offering consolidation capabilities and pledges of a greater embrace of the open source movement.
For starters, the latest version of Sun's flagship variant of Unix will offer a "Container" facility that is a method of software partitioning, says Chris Ratcliffe, a Sun group manager for Solaris. The goal is to minimize fault propagation and security violations among applications, and the Containers
