Picking Your Poison

This week, Tibco Software is set to announce the general availability of its Rendezvous platform on a dedicated appliance (see story, this issue). The major selling point, according to the vendor, is the performance improvement over the previous software-only implementations. The common refrain I keep hearing from those in the industry is "once you've hit the wall in software, you go to hardware." So far, it has made sense to Tibco, Tervela and IBM, but my question is: Has the industry truly hit
