With our news this week, it appears that a new model may be emerging for the deployment of the Reuters Market Data System (RMDS).

In a somewhat unexpected twist, some major global firms with huge investments in Sun Microsystems hardware might be inclined to keep their Solaris-based environments and leverage those investments rather than replace them with Linux-Intel systems. This would appear to be welcome news for Sun, which needs to halt the erosion of its base on Wall Street.
