As I took the helm of Dealing with Technology, Sell-Side Technology's print predecessor, in late autumn of 2006, Deutsche Börse officially ended its attempt to buy European exchange operator Euronext. Now, more than five years later, during the first week of February, European Union officials will decide if Deutsche Börse will be able to acquire NYSE Euronext. Judging by recent leaked comments made to the business press, the merger does not appear likely.
