Nasdaq OMX Buys Australia’s Smarts Group

Nasdaq OMX has snapped up Australia-based Smarts Group, which provides market surveillance systems to exchanges, regulators and brokers.

Nasdaq made the deal in order to bolster its commercial technology business and to enter the broker surveillance and compliance market, according to the exchange operator. Terms of the purchase were not disclosed, but it is expected to close in the third quarter of this year.
