With cuts coming to IT budgets, according to several consultants and CIOs in the industry, the room for innovation at many firms is limited as they struggle to keep their systems running with diminished funds. However, one area many financial institutions are looking to invest in is public clouds.

It's a space some never imagined they'd be getting involved in just a few years ago.
