Markit under DOJ microscope

The US Department of Justice began an investigation last month into whether the firm had engaged in antitrust activities, including requiring clients to purchase bundled service packages in order to access its indexes, and restricting trade clearances, according to reports by Bloomberg News and The New York Times.

According to unnamed sources in a Bloomberg article published on August 3, Markit required a clearinghouse client to buy one of its pricing service offerings in order to use the firm's
