Report: Vendors Vs. Bespoke Systems

NEW YORK—IT organizations at securities firms are expected to increase compliance spending this year, but vendors will likely be competing more against systems developed by user firms than against themselves, according to a recent study from the Aite Group.

Compliance spending accounted for approximately 5.5 percent of IT expenditures in 2005, a number that is expected to jump to seven percent in 2006, the report says. Vendors should not get too excited, however, because none of the firms
