Applications: New Latency Culprits

"Pricing, quote management and algorithmic platforms are where banks need to put their money and effort if they want to catch up or stay in the forefront [when it comes to latency]," says Frederic Ponzo, managing director with Net2S and one of the authors of the research.

The consultancy has seen the proportion of the network's latency contribution drop from 50 percent in 2006 to between 10 and 15 percent in 2007 without considering network firewalls, which have remained constant in their latency
