Citi Expands Grid OS Environment

LONDON—The recently re-named financial services giant Citi expects to roll out support for Microsoft's Windows Server 2003 operating system (OS) to its grid backbone before the end of this quarter, DWT has learned.

Citi's existing grid environment runs Red Hat Linux 3.4 and Sun Microsystems' Solaris 8 OSes on commodity servers with dual-core AMD processors from Hewlett-Packard, says John van Uden, a senior vice president with capital markets and banking technology at Citi.
