Before electronic trading took over exchanges, a trader’s voice was their strongest asset.

Trading floors once teemed with fast-talking traders on their feet, yelling and gesticulating to communicate. But this open outcry system is largely a relic of the past, practiced at only a handful of venues such as the London Metal Exchange, considered the last European exchange using it, CME Group and Cboe Global Markets, both of which use it for limited options trading.
