Sumitomo Bank Revamps Computing Infrastructure

INFRASTRUCTURE

NEW YORK--The Sumitomo Bank has moved its computing infrastructure from a mainframe VSAM, CICS-based system to a switched network of RS/6000 servers running AIX and using applications from Oracle and other vendors.

The transformation of the 25-year-old legacy system to a Global Integrated System began in 1998 and will continue into 2001 when new treasury applications will have been installed. The treasury applications are the back-end support for Sumitomo’s trading system, notes Peter McCormick
