This is not your father’s introducing brokerage anymore. Introducing brokerages, once seen as an exclusively retail province of the financial industry, is taking root among investment institutions, and its definition and function is changing as well.

Introducing brokers (IBs) used to be only regional entities of about three to five professionals conducting full-service brokerage on a retail basis in their communities, explains Matt Rees, chief relationship manager at Chicago-based futures
