Buy-Side Technology Awards 2016: Best IBOR Platform/Service—SimCorp
SimCorp continues its winning streak as it wins Best IBOR Platform/Service for the third straight year.
A company spokesperson says SimCorp Dimension IBOR offers a number of key features “that no other vendor can rightfully claim.” The platform provides buy-side users with what it calls a “single source of truth” of investment positions and cash. It delivers real-time information about current, projected and historical positions and cash for all events for all asset classes as well flexibly integrating with all accounting platforms and order management systems.
SimCorp added a number of enhancements to the platform in recent months, including new reconciliation functionality. It aims to roll out additional add-on services and functionality during the course of next year, given that the suite’s development is a continuous journey, according to the spokesperson.
As SimCorp moves to enhance its flagship offering, it sees a changing global asset management environment where its tools need to analyze larger volumes and richer data than ever before in ever shorter timeframes.
SimCorp’s spokesperson tells Waters this changing environment is behind the resurgence in the industry’s use of IBOR information and platforms.
“This is a consequence of a number of factors such as the removal of geographical boundaries within portfolios and the search for alpha that drives managers to incorporate different and more esoteric asset classes within a single portfolio,” he says. “Investment managers are starting to demand real-time data, real-time data controls and validations, and intra-day reconciliations.”
As SimCorp moves to enhance its flagship offering, it sees a changing global asset management environment where its tools need to analyze larger volumes and richer data than ever before in ever shorter timeframes.
The spokesperson says firms are also starting to realize that the rich data they generate not only needs to be managed, but can provide them with opportunities to develop innovative products and investment strategies.
With this changing environment, SimCorp believes it can continue to provide accurate, timely and automated position-level information to front-office personnel and by so doing put them in a position where they can make more judicious investment decisions on behalf of their investors.
